MAJOR FIRE IN STANSTEAD
A fire that started late Wednesday afternoon has put 6 families on the Street in Stanstead. The apartment complex on the corner of Maheurx and Dufferin is a complete loss has fire engulfed the converted house, built in the late 1800's, that anchored the apartments.
The fire started on a table in the front of the building owned by Florent Jacques, James Lansbury of Stanstead who was passing by, rushed inside and troughthe table and papers underneath outside, before rushing inside to tell a tenant that there was a fire raging in.
Firemen form Stanstead rushed to the scene, later joined by the Derby Line Fire Department and some from Newport bringing equipment
Late Wednesday night firemen were still on the scene dousing the building which was still smoldering
